Location
The photo was taken at a barrel riding event in Ranger, North Carolina about ten miles West of Murphy.Time
It was late afternoon for about two hours preceding the "Golden Hour".Lighting
The rich colors were enhanced by a low late afternoon sun.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 DSLR with the Nikkor 70 - 300 mm lens. No tripod All shots were hand held.Inspiration
The barrel race was an action packed event. Every rider afforded me the opportunity to take the high energy frozen shots.Editing
I used Photoshop to crop and sharpen the images. In my camera bag
Normally I carry my most used lens, the Nikkor 18 - 140 mm. I also have a Nikkor 50 mm fixed focus and a polrarizing filter in my bag.Feedback
Set your camera to rapid fire and release the shutter as the horses and riders round the barrels. Make sure your shutter speed is at least 1000 sec and set the ISO to automatic. Zoom in and out so that the horse and rider fill most ot the frame.
