from a simple portrait you made a masterpiece...looks like a poor girl from the east, and not a happy child with a towel on :)

Location
Our granddaughter Payton was visiting us at our home in North Carolina. When the photo was taken, she had just finished swimming in the creek beside our house and was sitting in a chair with a beach towel over her head. Ordinarily, Payton has a perpetual smile on her face. This time however, she was caught by surprise when I called her name just before I snapped this photo. Her expression might be interpreted as a scowl but in reality, she was only reacting to the sudden call of her name.Time
The time of day was in the early afternoon.Lighting
The lighting was open sunlight without the aid of a flash.Equipment
I used an Olympus E520 DSLR. The shot was hand held.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of my twelve grandchildren. This is only one of many photo that I have of granddaughter Payton.Editing
The original image was in color. When I converted the photo to black and white using Nik Silver Efex Pro, the image was dramatically changed, I think for the better. In my camera bag
I now use a Nikon D7100 DSLR which replaced the Olympus that took this photo.Feedback
This photo was taken at the spur of the moment. It was unplanned. It just happened to be taken at the right time.
