Dogs have a way of expressing themselves with intense stares that seem to bore right through you. My guess is that this dog got the bacon! Congratulations on your challenge win with this outstanding image and capture.

I usually don´t like the distortion that ultrawide angles do when very near, but you nailled a perfect balance

Location
I took this photo at my Son's home while I was visiting, this is his dog, Tay.Time
As I recall it was just before noon, and my wife and I had come over to visit since hew had recently purchased the home.Lighting
I didn't manipulate the light at all, as the sun was filtering through the windows from a few different directions.Equipment
I simply pulled out my iPhone 6S and started shooting. It wasn't the best gear but it's proof that photography isn't all about the cost of the hardware.Inspiration
I love dogs...and I love shooting them. This dog jumped up on the back of a chair which put her almost in my face, and she was being surprisingly compliant which was uncharacteristic for this playful Beagle. She was very patient as I was adjusting the focus and grabbed as many shots as I could before her patience ran out.Editing
There was a lot of distracting background images so I felt I needed to address it. In my handy Photoshop I grabbed the dog and separated her form the background then blurred the background to help the dog stand out.In my camera bag
In this case I didn't have my camera bag, but in my bag I keep multiple lenses in case my target changes. I have my trusty Canon 7D, lens cleaners, a multi-battery adapter, flash, and remote shutter controller.Feedback
With the quality of phone cameras improving, I find myself using it more often to capture unexpected opportunities like this. I never would have captured this with my Canon rig because the dog would never have waited around. With pets, it's about the moment many times since they rarely cooperate with staged portraits. I bring my phone along on walks as well and find so many opportunities to shoot in the space of an hour, it's quite amazing. Bottom line, don't overlook the power of your pocket camera that's always with you. Get educated on it's camera controls and you will be amazed at what you can come up with.
