I love the colors on this and the composition. It gives me a sense of wonder. Reflections in water that mirror the sky are so beautiful. Both interesting and beautiful.

Behind The Lens

Location

Goblin Valley State park in southern Utah, it's a pretty cool little place about an hour and a half from arches national park.

Time

This was taken around 3 am, when the milky way was near the peak of it's vertical alignment that night.

Lighting

This photo took so many frames and so long to take that there is some faint light from astronomical twilight illuminating the foreground that you can see fade into the left side of the photo.

Equipment

cannon rebel t5i with the tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 lens. I was using an old Velbon tripod that has a ball head.

Inspiration

When I arrived at the park I noticed that the tail end of the Milky Way aligned with that tall left goblin and thought a pano with it jetting out from that alignment would be really cool.

Editing

Yes, there is a lot of color adjustment and contrast added to help bring out the colors in the sky. The foreground was relatively untouched except for noise reduction, however I do a lot of adjustment in the sky and stars to try and dehaze and bring back that natural astronomical beauty.

In my camera bag

I typically carry a lot of batteries in my bag. I always seem to eat up battery power very quickly. SD cards are also a huge plus, carry as many as you can always!!!

Feedback

Make sure and stitch at the edges of your pano, this was very very hard to align since I overlapped too far and had to do it by hand.
