Location
This photo is taken in the hills above my hometown Grundarfjörður Iceland. In the foreground you see the waterfall Nónfoss and in the background the majestic Kirkjufell bathed in the midnight sun.Time
Shortly after work I looked up to the sky and saw that the sunset would be good that evening. Shortly after dinner me and my wife took a hike up the hill and spent the evening admiring the sunset. This picture is taken just before midnight on june 12. 2016. Here in Iceland we have the midnight sun in june and it can be quite spectacular sunsets in the summer.Lighting
I had seen another picture taken from that spot and I wanted to go for it myself. I will definately try that again in july og august where you can get great lighting also.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D mark III with my 21 mm Carl Zeiss lense and a tripod.Inspiration
As the mountain Kirkjufell is quite popular amongst photographers here in Iceland I'm always open to a different perspective. This was one of them.Editing
I used lightroom and photoshop to edit the photo a bit. I darkened the sky a bit and tried to lighten the landscape to get more detail. In my camera bag
I usually travel with my two Canon cameras. Canon 5D mark III and Canon 7D mark II. I have a Carl Zeiss 21mm and 50mm. Canon 24-70 2.8 II and Canon 16-35 2.8 II. Also Canon 70-200 2.8. Canon 580 EX flash and two manrotto tripods. One set of Lee filters.Feedback
You just have to wait for the right moment as the sunset won't last that long. Be sure you're on the right spot before the show starts.
