Location
This photo was taken in Turnagain Arm, Alaska, a place which has the greatest tidal fluctuation in the US (40 feet or 12 meters). It was named by the illustrious Captain William Bligh of HMS Bounty fame while he was serving as Sailing Master under Captain Cook in 1778. They were searching for a northwest passage to Europe from the Pacific and Turnagain Arm is one of the routes they explored only to discover that it comes to a dead end.Time

Cloudy flat lighting is good when it comes to adding color saturation in flowers, and getting rid of highly contrasting shadows.Equipment

Currently I use a Nikon D500 camera coupled with a Nikkor 18 to 300 mm lens. I also carry a gardener's pad in my sling bag. In addition to substituting as camera padding I find it to be incredibly useful for kneeling or sitting on when taking low angle photos. Depending on the job, I also carry a couple of external flashes, two Pocketwizards and a collapsable 54 inch carbon fiber tripod that weighs in at less than two pounds (great for working in the field).Feedback
When photographing landscapes I often look for something to include in the immediate foreground to create an exaggerated sense of depth. I also look for lines in the landscape that causes the eyes to follow across the photo, as in this case.
