Location
I took this photo in Berlin, behind one of subway stations there is a hidden path along the train tracks, I wouldn't know it about it myself if I didn't see another photo taken that and ask the person who took it. It was April and I took the photo before going to a job interview.Time
It was around 10 AM, I had a job interview later in the day and wanted to make it to this place before to calm myself. It was also important for me to make the photo before noon light.Lighting
I wanted the sun to be high but not very high so there will be shadows, and I also wanted the petals to be nicely lit by morning light it was a perfect moment and combination of those two that allowed making this photo so great.Equipment
I shot it with a Nikon D7100 with kit lens 18-55mm, no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was looking for a place to photograph blooming cherry trees, Japan was a little bit too far away, so when a friend posted a picture from Berlin my first question was where exactly was it taken. I wanted to show the beauty of blooming trees.Editing
Yes, I had to help with light a little, it was too strong when I took the photo, and up tiny bit the color, all post-processing was quite basic and done in Lightroom. In my camera bag
My camera trusty Nikon D7100, I usually have the kit Nikkor 18-55mm mounted, sometimes a Sigma Macro 85mm lens that is my favorite. Sometimes you can find also a tele 70-300mm. Often I take with my gorilla tripod, and if I know I will be working along with a tripod to photograph fireworks, for example, I take a Manfrotto BeFree one. If I travel I also take some filters and ND and polarizing filter.Feedback
Consider spending whole day in the spot taking photos at various part of the day, not only at the golden hour but also with different angles that light is falling. It creates a completely different mood. Take a tripod, I was actually not happy that I didn't take one with me. Try different places, I actually took several photos there from different angles and from different spots. Try to squat it changes perspective in an interesting way.
