Location
This photo was taken in my own backyard in N.Alabama In April 2016.Time
I took this mid morningLighting
It was taken with natural lighting as almost all my shots are.Equipment
I took this with a Nikon Coolpix P610, f6.5, ISO100, and exp 1/400 and hand held.Inspiration
My mother had passed away in January of 2016 and Cardinals were her favorite bird. The Coolpix was my first DSLR camera , purchased shortly after her death. I was learning and experimenting with it’s different settings and features. This male in Spring breeding colors provided the opportunity to honor my mother’s memory.Editing
I don’t have a fancy post edit program but I did crop and sharpen the photo with Fotor on my old laptop. In my camera bag
Now I have the Coolpix P610, a D7100 with various lens’ and assorted filters. Occasionally I will carry my tripod but most of my shots are handheld and a majority are taken in my own backyard.Feedback
Don’t force the shot. Be patient, learn their tendencies and how they react. Allow them to get used to your presence and snap a lot of pictures. Then chose your favorite.
