Location
This image was taken at the front of the Museum Of Asian Art at Kerkyra, Corfu.Time
Around 3pm as I wanted the sun a little lower in the sky to give more light in the dimly lit walkway.Lighting
For naturally lit shots sunlight is your only source of light. You then have to figure what would be the best time of day that will give you the light and shadows to compose the shot. Too late in the day and you get a subdued light with more shadows. Mid day in summer gives the opposite with the light at max intensity risking losing the shot due to being washed out so it really is a case of knowing the right time to capture the scene.Equipment
I used a Canon 60D with the Canon 40mm f2.8 lens mounted on a manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
When I was a kid my parents bought a brochure back from Rome. One image was a set of columns from front to the back of frame that stuck with me ever since. When I saw the walkway while in Corfu everything I saw gave me the chance to get my version of "that shot". This image was one of a few I took wanting to capture the walkway as well as the columns that I captured in a separate image.Editing
Not much. I always use photoshop to edit every image even if only to convert the size for social media. If I remember rightly I only had to make a few adjustments to the highlights to blend in a few points of intense light. In my camera bag
I now carry a Canon R5 along with a Canon RF 24-105mm (my goto lens) a Canon ef11-24mm f5.6 lens, a Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5 lens and a Sigma 14mm DG art lens for night shoots. Add in a Canon speedlight flash, remove trigger. It's a big bag.Feedback
Look look and look again. I was prepared to go to Rome to find the columns in the building I saw so many years ago, thankfully in Corfu I found an equal alternative totally by surprise. So keep your options open as you never know what lies around the next corner.
