I am shocked that this image has done so well, I never expected it to be so well received and can only thank all of you that have voted for it etc. If it can actually win a contest, well, for sure it will also achieve another unexpected result, me being speechless, now that would be special. Thanks to you all. :-)

Location
I took this shot at a small port called Ormos Panagias. It is located on the second (Sithonia) penninsula of Halkidiki, Greece.Time
Not sure of the actual time as I had taken a wrong turn and was totally lost. I think it was around the 1 to 2 pm timeLighting
As soon as I saw the boat on the calm water it told me everything about the shot, and, what I needed to capture with all of the reflections that were visible as well as a clear reflection on the boat itself. I had to take to the water to get this image but it was worth getting wet to find as best an angle as I could with the boat filling the frame along with the reflections and it was tempting to venture futher out to get more of the background, but, the boat is the subject and so I stuck to that. It was just a matter of waiting until a thin cloud covered the sun leaving the scene well lit but not too bright so as to cause problems with highlights etc.Equipment
I captured the image on my old Canon 60D using the kit 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
It really was a one in a million chance that I got this shot, I had gotten totally lost taking a wrong turn. I ended up on a gravel track which I decided to follow to see where it ended up and voila.. I ended close by to this broken boat. As soon as I saw it I knew there was the potential to get something special and so I took my time and took a few shots along the shore line but always I wanted the big boat. With the calm water, the reflections, cloudy sky everything was in place to get something special and I hope I did just that.Editing
As with all my images I had to run it through photoshop to rescale, copyright etc, but, other than some light contrast and brightness adjustments that was about it. Again at the time I wanted the camera to do the work or as much as possible with the least post processing possible. In my camera bag
I now use a Canon 5d Mk3 and in the 2 years of owning it I always have the 24.105mm f4.5 lens to hand if not fitted. The lens is amazing, so damned adaptable under all conditions it truly is an amazing lens that captures so much detail, colour, contrast etc a sure fire weld it to me lens that I will never part with. I also have a Samyang 14mm f2.8 prime lens for super wide landscape and astro work. A Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART lens that is yet another amazing lens for portrtait and close landscape work. I also have a Tamron 70-300mm telephoto/macro lens that I was going to bin, BUT, using the macro function it is yet another excellent lens for capturing close in shots without having to be too close to the subject. Tripod is a Calumnet ball head unit with fully independent and adjustable legs. A hard wearing stable tripod that can be adapted to any situation and also givng me the facilily to have the camera mounted a few millimeters from the floor. I use a Canon Speedlite 430ex for low light or flash fill use. Also I have a head torch, a small led hand torch, cleaning cloths and a couple of LEE filters for more creative types of work. A digital remote trigger as well as an infra red cordless trigger unit.Feedback
I like to travel a lot, especially in Greece. Whenever I go I hire a car along with extra insurance as I know I will at some stage be going off road or to places that are not frequented by many if anyone else. By doing so it gives me the flexibility to go to places that others do not know of and in this case should I get lost as I did here it does not end in total disaster. Carrying a lot of gear can also be tiring and cumbersome, so, if you are going to a place you already know only take all that you think you will need, no point in taking equipment that will just be sitting in the bag wearing you out. Also be ready for the unexpected. By taking what I had and arriving at this scene I had more than I needed to get this and a lot of other shots in the time I was there, but, if you have time then look at the scene from different locations, figure out where the best light is, angles, etc and by doing so you can maximise your time by making sure that when you do take the shot you know you are in the best place to take it at the time. In this case with the cloud cover which was not moving too fast it was a case of looking to see what cloud would give me the cover I needed to get as best lit a scene as possible. Any brighter and the scene could well have been blown out, any duller, then run into contrast problems etc. Also with the water so calm making sure there were no boats nearby that could create a wash to ruin the reflections on the water, if there was then obviously it would be a case of get the shot while you can or again, wait. Remember the location, I have, and I returned to the same place a few months later to hopefully repeat the shot, but, the boat was gone. Where? I do not know but I go this shot of which I am extremely pleased and proud of.
