Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the Fort Worth Stockyards during the daily 'cattle drive'

Time

This was taken just before noon

Lighting

this was taken on a warm Texas summer day - partly cloudy and hot!

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon 70D and Tamron 16-300mm lens

Inspiration

I was recovering from knee surgery and looking for someplace to walk around - the stockyards fit the bill!

Editing

very little post was done on this shot, just a little work on light and colors

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Canon 80D (I finally wore out the shutter in my trusty 70D) with a Tamron 16/300mm mounted, and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses, ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 16-300mm Tamron though, the Tamron's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the open - stay tuned though, the Tamron has issues with the 80D so there's a Sigma 18-300mm on the way as a possible replacement... :-)

Feedback

Shoot in RAW if possible - this is an old shot and taken in JPG, I was limited in what I could do in POST
