i was torn between awarding this for the composition(based on the line of the barrierand the horizon line details) or creativity for the choice of the exposure time, and creativity won out. i love Viewbug. but i wish that the rating system was somewhat more like Yophotocom Great job!

Location
I took this image one cold winters morning at Caister-on-Sea, a coastal resort in Norfolk in the UKTime
It was shortly after sunrise, although there was precious little sun, but that just meant for a moodier and more dramatic imageLighting
I love the cool tones of the blue hour, especially in winterEquipment
This was taken on a canon 5Dmkii, with my trusty Lee filter system to balance the exposure, and of course a sturdy tripod to withstand the wavesInspiration
I love trying to capture the movement of the ocean, and the sea defences here made for a striking composition to set them offEditing
There were the usual tonal adjustments for a raw file, and then some split toning to enhance the moodIn my camera bag
My favourite lens is my Zeiss 18mm distagon, it's perfect for the wide horizons of my local landscapeFeedback
When trying to capture movement in water it's worth experimenting with shutter speeds until you get just the right amount of movement, without the exposure being so long it completely smooths out the water
