Location
I took this photo on a trip to Lincoln City, Oregon. My family and I had been going there for awhile and decided that it is our favorite beach.Time
I took this photo at sunset. My father and I walked out of our hotel room to go play on the beach, when we saw the sunset, we both went back inside to grab our cameras. The pictures came out gorgeous!Lighting
Dawn and dusk are my favorite time of day to take photos. The lighting is natural and everyday it’s a little different. I guess if you ask me about lighting... I usually go with natural. Because Nature has its own way of bringing out the colors in nature.Equipment
At the time I was using my fathers D3500 with the 75mm lens. I was standing practically in the middle of a blackberry bush, so I had no where to set up the tripod. Just a steady hand and my favorite camera that my father passed down to me.Inspiration
My Father was never a professional photographer, but he was the most artistic person I have ever met. He had so much skill with a brush, pencil, carving tool, a camera. You name it, he could probably make something impressive with it. I used to spend a lot of time taking photos with him. He would take me places just for me to get some shots, even if we were just headed to the grocery store, he’d even pull off to the side of the road if I’d seen something that I thought would make a good photo. I would always ask him what he thought about a photo I took because I knew he would be honest and he’d suggest different ways to improve. This photo was one of his favorites and my memories behind it are some of my favorites, being able to take this photo with my father is something I will cherish. My Father was my inspiration this photo.Editing
I like to keep most of my images as natural and unprocessed as I can. This photo has no post-processing and no editing. Natural in nature is key.In my camera bag
I normally carry my favorite camera, handed down to me by my father. A D3500, with both of its original lenses, a 35mm and a 75mm. I try to keep it pretty simple, sometimes I’ll throw my tripod in the backseat just in case, but I rarely end up using it.Feedback
Keep your eyes peeled. The best photos are usually captured when there not planned, finding beauty in everyday things can make a photo more incredible then you thought. Don’t just focus on the looks. The backstory, the memories behind the photo are important to. Make your photo memorable, not just to those seeing it, but to yourself. A photo is a memory seen through your eyes.
