I love this. It's quite simple but very elegant, nice colors, extreme landscape.

Wow, this is beyond magnificent - it is pure genius how you blended the grays and blues together. Congrats on your awards!

I did this picture during my expedition to Patagonia in Argentina. I knew the the weather there is very bed. I got my ten days of rain non-stop. And all this time I was leaving in a tent waiting at the feet of the mountains for a good weather. This was the only one day I had a glimpse on a mountainTime
To get to this point prior to the sunrise you have to climb for an hour or two on the steep trail. So I got up at 4 am and started going all the way up to the Lago de Los Tres. I got there by about 5:30 a.m. Perfect timing as the Moon was descending over the peaks and the sun was still far under horizon so the stars were still visibleLighting
I made this picture during half moon, when the light of the moon is still too bright to shoot stars on the sky. So I wanted to capture the moment of the moonset to get the light from the moon on the mountains and some stars on the sky. Unfortunately this was the moment prior to the sunrise when the sky gets a bit too bright to shoot the stars. Still I got some bright points on the sky and some warm lighting on the mountains from the rising sunEquipment
For this expedition I decided to take a light morrorless Fuji XT1 instead of my Nikon D810. Goo choice as the weight of the camera and lenses allowed me to climb a lot and without loosing strength carrying heavy DSLR. For this shot I used 21mm Fujinon prime which is awesome lens in all aspects. I also used tripod to stabilize camera during long exposureInspiration
Pataginia is a kind of a must-see for every landscapist in the world. And this view is one of the most pictured views over Fitz Roy peak. A wanted to do something fresh combining night pictures, starry sky and moving cloudsEditing
Normally I do lots of postprocessing on my landscape images. But this time I hat to do only basic color correction and additional toning on the clouds to enhance the light of the sitting moonIn my camera bag
Normally for this kind of shooting I use two cameras - Nikon D810 and D700 as a spare. I shoot with the set of Nikkor lenses 24-70 f/2.8, 14-24 f/2.8 and 80-200 f/2.8. I also carry a sturdy Gitzo tripod as now night pictures could me done without it. But for expedition to Patagonia I decided to lake light Fuji XT1 camera with a set of fas zoom lenses and 21mm primeFeedback
I Patagonia wether changes fast and you can never expect what would it be in and hour. If you see the mountains - go and shoot. No matter night or day, sleepy or not, hungry or not - go and shoot. Patagonia may not give you a second chance
