Nice capture but could have been much better with a bit of smooth water movement, try f/22 and IS0 400, just my opinion :)

Thanks Kevin, I did get some smooth water with my waterfall shots, my object here was to show the rive as it was flowing, as we had had some very dry weather. This was taken after some heavy rains ... Cheers Trish

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken from a small lookout point over the Toorongo River near the falls, within The Toorongo Falls Reserve and is situated 100 kms east of Melbourne, north of the town of Noojee in Gippsland.

Time

I took this about mid morning on an overcast day.

Lighting

There was nothing spectacular about the lighting, I would say that it was almost "Dead Light". But I think it gave the shot a certain mood of impending rain.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 1200D, with my EFS 18-55mm lens on my old tripod, because it was lighter to carry, as it was a reasonable hike up to the falls.

Inspiration

I was on a shoot with a Photography Class I belong to and just loved the area we were in. The river was flowing well after days of rain, it was just magical. I took this from a small lookout point over the river near the falls, I then just stood and watched the falls and the river flow.

Editing

I didn't have to do much post-processing only a little lightening and a small amount of colour correction.

In my camera bag

The only equipment in my bag is the camera and lens that I mentioned earlier also an EF 75-300mm lens an extra battery and memory card, a rain coat, a large plastic bag to kneel on if I want a low shot and a small towel to dry the camera off, if it suddenly starts to rain. The tripod is an extra depending on where and what the shoot is.

Feedback

I have no real advice, apart from be aware of your surroundings, take your time, keep a sharp eye out and look for what will work as a great shot, if you can't see it immediately then move yourself and look again, look at your potential shot from all angles, only then, choose your spot to take the shot. Also, always think outside the Box.
