Location
This was shot at Mason Lake, an alpine lake in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington state.Time
I shot this on June 14, 2014 at 2:39pm after about 4 hours of hiking to reach this spot.Lighting
This day was a battle between sun and fog with the fog winning out. The fog and mist settling on the water gave this shot an eerie, mysterious feel.Equipment
Nikon D5300 with an 18-55mm lens, no tripod, no flash.Inspiration
I was actually disappointed at first with the conditions. Mason Lake is a beautiful lake I've hiked to many times and I wanted to capture that beauty. I quickly realized the fog gave it a different and dramatic kind of beauty.Editing
I didn't do any post-processing to this photo except converting it to black & white. In my camera bag
Nikon D5300, 18-55mm lens, 35mm lens, polarizing filter, tripod.Feedback
Fog is your friend!
