I was out hunting the northern lights. They ended up being a bust, so I went around the area looking for other photo opportunities. I came across this spot, and decided to get some star pictures.Editing

Absolutely need a tripod. I should have exposed this a little shorter to prevent the stars from streaking a little bit. I didn't know that at the time. I did a 30 second exposure. From what I've read, it should be closer to 20 seconds. The faster the lens the better. This was a 2.8 lens. Faster lenses will allow you to have smaller ISO, which will help to prevent noise in the image.
