Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the Rathdrum prairie in north Idaho.

Time

I believe it was about 11:00 a.m. on a cloudy day.

Lighting

Just a somewhat overcast day with cloudy skies.

Equipment

Sony a6000 with a 55-210mm lens, handheld.

Inspiration

Because the skies were so stormy and dramatic looking, I decided to drive around the countryside and see what I could see. The hay bales were rolled but this one had the magnificent sky and the white fence that I could incorporate in to the composition.

Editing

I only use the sliders on Apple's "photos" app. For this photo I did use an in-camera HDR feature on my Sony.

In my camera bag

A carry a Sony a6000 and a Sony Nex-6 along with the following lenses: 14mm, 15-50mm, 55-210mm and a fish-eye lens. I also carry extra batteries and memory cards along with the cleaning tools. I enjoy

Feedback

I enjoy driving around in the rural areas looking for some interesting photo op: barns, tractors, fences, horses, goats, roadways, windmills, etc. Just driving, and looking and actually "seeing" what flies by creates the interest and motivation to stop the car, get out, take some photos and enjoy the beauty of the scene.
