Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the Addison Kaboom Town July 4th celebration. This is an older shot, and one of the first events I attended after my very first DSLR purchase

Time

This was taken a an hour or so before sunset, abolut 7:00 PM. The smoke was starting to show stadows at some interesting angles

Lighting

I couldn't control lighting much, I was stationairy watching the airshow.

Equipment

I used a Canon T4i with a 70-300 kit lens for this shot. This event gets very crowded, I could not use a tripod but I did get to sneak in a monopod...

Inspiration

This was just a fun event to shoot!

Editing

I did very little post processing on this shot, just a bit of shading work in Elements. I was just getting bit by the photography bug and still shooting in JPG, so there wasn't a lot of range in the shot to work with.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16/300mm mounted and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto, depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I don't get to plan a lot of shots beforehand - I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 17-300mm Tamron though, the Tamron's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the open

Feedback

Just get out and have fun with your camera!
