Gorgeous light. Looking at the fall colors, I'm guessing you were there a week or two before I was. Congrats on being a finalist

Love the mirror effect...fireplaces, bamboo and still water or mirrors always work for me. This is stunning.

once the sun rises and shows above the mountain on the east side of the lake it throws beautiful light at Laurel Mountain you can see in the picture making it look like it's set on fire. If there are clouds the view is even more spectacular.Equipment
Canon 5d MarkII + Canon 17-40mm f4.0 + tripodInspiration
One Saturday I took short road trip to Eastern Sierras. I left home at 11pm on Friday and got there just before sunrise. I thought that I would start the day at Convict Lake. When I arrived the best "seats" were taken. Apparently some photographer decided to have his workshop there but I found some tiny spot with a million dollar view, set up my tripod in the clearest water I have ever seen and waited for the show. Once the sun started rising and coming up above the mountains behind us we witnessed something incredibly amazing. Clouds started changing colors and the peak of the mountain in front of us got set up on fire. The echo "wow", "wow", "wow" sounded in this perfectly quiet place. People attending the workshop were expressing their admiration for this phenomenon. Too bad we have only one sunset and one sunrise a day.Editing
I just made some little exposure and color adjustments and toned the contrast. In my camera bag

I don't really have a good advice. It's important to be at the right place and the right time and at least know the basics how the camera works.
