This photo was taken during my 50th birthday trip to The Columbus Zoo. The orangutans were just hanging out at the window watching us as we were watching them.Time
This was probably taken during the early afternoon - the lighting was perfect.Lighting
Luckily the orangutan came over to the window because the main part of the exhibit was mostly in the sun.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D7100, the lens was a Nikon 18-200mm (f/3.5-f/5.6), no tripod - handheld and no flash.Inspiration
The orangutan just came over to the window, sat down and leaned over looking at all of us. Just the expression was priceless.Editing
The only adjustments I made were in lighting and contrast. In my camera bag
I usually take my camera and my trust 18-200mm, my 70-300mm for just those special zoom shots and now I have a converter so that's a new addition.Feedback
Be patient. Set your shot and be ready to take multiple shots - you never know which one will be "the one".
