I captured this image in Paris, IL.Time
It was taken about an hour and a half before sunset.Lighting
I only use natural light. I didn't use any flash equipment to light this image.Equipment
I use a Canon 5 D Mark III and a 135mm 2.0 Canon lens.Inspiration
I always ask my clients before a session if there's anything special they would like me to capture for then. This little guys mom wanted to capture him being him. Just being playful. This happened to be one of her ideas.Editing
I used Lightroom & photoshop to achieve the final image. In my camera bag
I carry a Canon 5 D Mark III, a 135L 2.0, an 85mm 1.8, & a 50mm 1.4, and a monopod.Feedback
When working with children you have to be patient. Let them be them. Just do your best to guide them into doing what you would like them to do. It probably took about 20 minutes of shooting in this alley to capture what I was after. As long as the children are having fun you'll capture great images of them. I worked with this youngster for almost two hours before I was able to get him to smile for me the first time. Again I can't stress enough about being patient and gaining their trust especially with very shy or bashful children.
