Location
About a kilometre from home on a small farm road within Bergen city limits, Norway.Time
This shot was taken as the sun was setting, so around 2.30 - 3pm in the afternoon at these latitudes.Lighting
All done with natural lighting of course. You can see the golden glow in the sky near the horizon and off to the left where the sun was setting, so I caught some nice golden light reflected off the snow on the tree branches.Equipment
Hand held shot using the trusty NIkon D3100 with the Tamron 18-200mm lens. Shot taken at f5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO200 and 18mm. No tripod, no flash.Inspiration
This small cabin type building is always quite photogenic but much more so when the snow coats the whole landscape and there is a sunny winter's day with a very pale blue sky.Editing
All edits were done in Lightroom as usual but, to be honest there wasn't much to do with this shot. I took some bluish tints out of the snow and sharpened it up slightly, but other than that not much.In my camera bag
Nikon D3100, Tamron 18-200mm lens, Sigma 70-300mm lens, Induro tripod, Phottix variable ND filter.Feedback
Winter is a great time for landscape photography when the weather is right. In the far north you'll always get great shadows to play with as the sun never gets far above the horizon. When you get that settled, sunny, but freezing cold weather, wrap up warm and get out there.
