Location
I took this photo at my football coach's wedding a few years back. The little boy is his nephew who was here all the way from Oklahoma. He was such a character to shoot as well. To this day, this remains one of my favourite photos that I have taken.Time
This was shot in the botanical gardens in Sydney, Australia. The gardens are really great for low early sunrise and dusk shoots. This was taken around 330-4pm. The light sat perfectly giving a natural bounce light for subjects.Lighting
The lighting in the late afternoon is really good as it acts as a natural bounce light when your shooting subjects. how it filters through the trees it gives off a natural diffusion.Equipment
i shot this with a Canon 7D with a 24-105mm lens. I also had an ND4 filter as well.Inspiration
One of the the reasons I love this photo is because how natural it is. Originally we tried to get Eli (The little boy) to sit and smile for the camera. After a few minutes we found he was playing with a jar lid he found. And this was the result of the groom taking some time to see what Eli had found. Having capture this moment still gives me a great feeling when I see this.Editing
This has minor corrections to the contrast but essentially this is straight from the camera. In my camera bag
My kit ranges from job to job. On most days I will have my Canon 6D with 24-105mm and cheap and nasty 50mm. But on sporting occasions or travelling I usually take my 75-300mm to get detailed macro shots.Feedback
Always look for non scripted moments from your subject. The more relaxed they are, the more it shows on the camera. It's all about timing and patience.
