Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo near Vienna in Austria.
Time
This photo was taken later in the morning.
Lighting
The slowly brightening sun was covered by shreds of clouds so it was still possible to get a well exposed picture.
Equipment
I've used a Canon 7d, Sigma 120-300/2.8 and my Velbon Sherpa Pro tripod with a Sirui gimbal head which has a great stability and flexibility to catch situations like this.
Inspiration
I always wanted to take a photo of a European Ziesel (ground squirrel) interacting with a flower and was so happy to get this shot done.
Editing
I've used some post processing in Photoshop to optimize contrast, did some tonal correction and increased the crispyness of the image.

Canon 5d Mk II Canon 7D Canon 16-35/4 L IS Canon 50/1.4 Canon 70-200/4 L IS Canon 85/1.8 Sigma 120-300/2.8 OS Tamron 150-600 Tripod ND Filters, gradient filters, polarization filter
Feedback
In nature photography - especially when doing wild life shots - you need patience, but you need to be on guard to use situations like this for a photo. Practice using your tele lenses in fast action situations. Doing a lot of water ski slalom photos in the past helped a lot to take this photo and don't miss the opportunity.
