I love how the tree looks against the fog and the lighting of the sun against the blue sky

Location
This picture is taken in austria about half a mile from the lake of constance. On both sides of the way leading to the tree there are strawberry fields, but the only orphan in this picture is the tree itself, rounded with a suggestion of a heart in his shape. It's a calm and peaceful place. That inspired me to take this picture. And because I wanted to have a clear silhouette, I photographed this as a pano with a final resolution of about 10.000 px on the long side.Time
It was - like the most of my landscape or macro shots - in the early morning hours when the sun showed up behind the mountains in the background. Behind that mountains, there is germany already and behind me there is switzerland, about a mile away. When I got up at this winter morning it was cold and foggy and I was drawn in by the mysterious arrangement of clouds. I had to go back and get my camera!Lighting
The lighting is pretty clear in this scene, I exposed for the highlights to get a silhouette of the tree. That reduces it to the shape and in front of the mixed warm and cold colors of the sky that was the mood I wanted to create. That it finally became such a great picture, I didn't knew at this moment, it was just worth trying.Equipment
it's free hand pano shot so my equipment was a Nikon D7100 and a 35mm lens, thats all.Inspiration
the nature itself. As I mentioned above I saw the scene and thought I had to hurry back and get my camera. And so did I :)Editing
less is more, so I just darkened the foreground a bit, added a gradient filter for the sky to enhance colors and contrast and did some minor overall color corrections. All done in Lightroom, I used photoshop just for sticking the pano together. In my camera bag
I carry a D800e with a battery grip in my bag and a 24-70 2.8 from Tamron with a circular pole filter, a Sigma 105mm 2.8 macro and a Sigma 85mm 1.4 and a Raynox DCR250 because most of the time I'm into macro photography. Cleaning stuff of course and sometimes two yongnou flashes with small softboxes. And the most important thing - water! It doesn't matter if you use a Fuji X-M1 (which I had and really loved!!) or a Hasselblad, you take the pics, not the camera, but nature photography takes time and when you're thirsty, you'll be glad to have a bottle of water with you, hahaFeedback
look for the right place, wait for a spring day when it is a cold night and get up early. Go there and when the fog is low and the sun comes up, sharing a short wonderful moment of sunrise, pull the trigger! Light conditions change rapidly in this moments so be patient, take some pics and decide later which one was the best. Maybe a HDR would help to catch the dynamic range of the scene. And have fun with what you do, thats the most important thing!
