A wonderful scene !
The rich, vibrant colors are spectacular. I particularly like how the layers of flowers, lead to layers of trees, then hills, then clouds and, finally to the warm intensity of the glowing sun.
Congratulations on the tremendous amount of recognition you have received; it is, well-deserved and, you should be very proud ! For this is a splendid photograph, indeed.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo at France, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. There are many lavender fields, because they grow there lavender and lavandin for sale. I traveled over there especially in the Summer to enjoy the lavender fields. It was my dream for many years.
Time
This photo was taken on Sunset, and this was one of the most beautiful Sunsets I have seen in my life - and I have seen plenty of them around the world.
Lighting
I intended to be there during the Sunset to capture, so I spent almost the whole day on the lavender fields waiting this time.
Equipment
The camera used to take this picture was Nikon D7000 with a wide lens. During evening period I always use a tripod, even that sometimes the tripod becomes too heavy. It's especially important to use it for capturing an HDR photo like this one.
Inspiration
My husband and I walked there, amongst the colorful fields, the buzzing bees and fabulous views of the Alps. During this period of Summer many photographers come to Alps to take a picture of the beautiful nature. So it was so amazing suddenly to find the peopleless field! The astonishing beauty of the Alps, the scent of the lavender, and the beauty of the Sunset inspired me taking this picture.
Editing
This picture was made from six jpeg photos, by merging them in Photomatix. Also, I like to use NIK Color Efex Pro plug-in for the finishing color editing.
In my camera bag
My usual set in the bug consists of: - Camera Nikon (today I use Nikon D750). - Two lens, one of them is always a wide lens for landscapes. That time, one year ago, I was using 18-200 Nikkor. This is a great lens for a traveler if you can not carry on too much equipment. - Polarizing filters. - A tripod and a remote control.
Feedback
It is important to plan your travel and the shooting time to capture the perfect light. Check all your equipment several times before you go to the field. Once I run out of battery during a capturing an amazing sunset. Always check the camera settings after you gave the camera to a lab for matrix cleaning - these guys may alter your settings! For example, this picture merged from six JPEG file exactly because they changed the format settings and I shooted long time in JPEG format instead of RAW. Always mount the camera on a tripod and use a remote control for the landscape shooting. Don't fix it in a single position, rather play with the angle of the camera and height of the tripod. Don't be lazy, do try different heights! Extend and shorten the tripod legs. When you use wide lens, even a minor change of the angle strongly affects the composition of the whole picture. And have fun!
