Location
This photo was taken at Stovepipe Wells Death Valley National Park.Time
This was taken early morning before sunrise.Lighting
My experience with Death Valley sunrises is that they can last for up to 45 minutes and going through 3 or more color phases.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon D610 and 16-35 lens. This is a long exposure on a tripod using a variable ND filter.Inspiration
On this photo I was trying to get the patterns in the sand as well as the two main colors of the sunrise.Editing
I processed this in LR and using a plugin from On1.In my camera bag
I carry along with my D610 a 16-35 mm and an 80-400 mm Nikon lens. I cary a lightweight tripod and ND filters.Feedback
The key to this shot is using the ND filter. that way the foreground can be captured with the long exposure.
