Taken around 9:30 in the morning after an early rise and unsuccessful sunrise shoot about 20 miles to the north.
This is where I first camped on my Fall trip to the Eastern Sierra’s in Oct of 2014. This is just above the Mammoth Sky Resort.
Just slightly left from center there is a bridge and beyond that is the other twin lake.
The Fall colors at this elevation were just starting to move past their peak.

Thank you, I was coming back to my campsite and this is right off the road. The clouds were great and the sun was in the right spot! :)

What a sight it must have been to see in person! It's very refreshing to see an "HDR" that is not over cooked, well done. Congrats on your latest finalist award, good luck!

Behind The Lens

Location
This shot was taken at Twin Lakes above Mammoth Sky Resort Eastern Sierra's, California.
Time
This was taken Oct 10, 2014 around 9:30 in the morning.
Lighting
The high clouds helped on this bright Fall morning to diffuse the sun a little which let the scene stay crisp and clear.
Equipment
For this shot I used a Nikon D610 with a 16-35 Nikon lens and a tripod.
Inspiration
Taken around 9:30 in the morning after an early rise and unsuccessful sunrise shoot about 20 miles to the north. I was driving back to my campsite by the lake when I came to a pullout and discovered this amazing view.
Editing
I processed this in LR and used a plugin from On1.
In my camera bag
I usually carry a Nikon D610, 16-35 and 80-400 Nikon lenses. I also carry an assortment of ND filters and tripod.
Feedback
I try to frame my landscape shots with balance trying to bring as much interest in view. The best reflection shots are usually when the sun is to the side or behind you.
