I've shot this boat on two separate occasions but never at high tide. The water in the forqround really adds to the photograph.

I have never seen this at high tide either. Was this taken recently, as I do not see the name of the ship. I have posted three photos of this on this site taken several years apart and one hangs in my home as one of my favorites. Point Reyes is a magic place.

Hi baybig, this was taken in Dec of 2014 and I digitally removed the name because originally I had posted this for commercial sale. I do have the original still with the name. Yes this is a beautiful area and my Cypress Tunnel was taken on the same day. Also my photo Labbotts Lagoon is in the same area.

Love this boat. I'm so sorry that I never had a chance to photograph it. It's just a crime that it was a burned and possibly by a photographer doing the steel pad fire swirls around it.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the town of Inverness California.

Time

Taken Dec 7, 2014 late morning.

Lighting

There was a high Marine Layer overhead so I underexposed because of the somewhat bright cloud background.

Equipment

With this shot I used a Nikon D610 with a 16-35mm Nikon lens, ND 3.0 filter on a tripod.

Inspiration

It was a gray day so I thought an ND filter would work great for a long exposure shot.

Editing

I processed this in LR and used a plugin from On1.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Nikon D610 and 16-35 and 80-400 Nikon lenses. I also carry an assortment of ND filters and tripod.

Feedback

This was my first time using a stronger ND filter in daylight. I picked a subject and background where there was slow movement for such a long exposure.
