Merci M'Lady! T'was a hot afternoon and the promise of the evening cool down inspired both the Sapphire and Tonic as well as the shot. Two jewels to toast the setting sun 6 stories high

Thanks so much! I hasd set my drink down and stepped back to get a nice view off the Mississppi River when the soft glowing light of the sun hit me right in the eye. Warm as the Louisiana almost summer in color and feel Thanks again!

This glowing image was taken on a rooftop balcony railing as the sun setting over the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.Time
I had this idea for awhile, shoot just as the sun is setting, so the glassware would 'sweat' just enough to impart a coolness and at the same time illuminate the slice of lime. I got there ahead of time to make sure I had the space I wantedLighting
The light was perfect! Other attempts on other days had been marred with clouds passing at inopportune times. We think the sun moves slowly overhead through the day but close to the horizon it is very apparent how quickly it races downward. There is about a three minute window when the light is focused right in the center and right at the bottom of the glass, Planning paid off as it often does.Equipment
I shoot Sony. This was an A7m2 with the kit lens, handheld so I could bobb up and down.Inspiration
Here in the deep south it gets HOT! The end of a long humid day and the promise of a cooler night is welcomed by all. There is a special transition period. We shift gears from rush rush rush to pause and reflect. A celebration of sorts. A Gin and Tonic ready to toast the sun going down, and a nice dinner awaiting is the perfect combination for the cusp of work v play.Editing
I did precious little post on this. I had planned it out and bracketed (3) just in case. Using the dodge tool set to midtones in PScc I brightened the lime a little and burned in a minor vignette. In my camera bag
I pretty much always have my Sony A7Rm2 with a Zeiss 23/240 with me. If I am shooting something special (like the opera) I also carry/pack a tripod, 2 extra batteries in my front pockets, a Sony A7m2 with kit lens and a few filters which it seems I never ever use.Feedback
Here is a habit to acquire: When you are a light writer (photo - grapher), notice light, a delightful shadow, an interesting pattern or texture. The habit becomes you and your work. Shoot what you feel not what you see! Work on the skills of observation and the impulses to create will follow. Will everything work? Of course not, but enough things do work to give you sense of what is possible in the future. Have faith in ability to try and try again. The results will come, I promise.....
