I don't believe I've ever seen this type of butterfly. It's very cool looking and this is an absolutely stunning composition with perfect focus. Nicely done.

Indoor lighting with some filtered natural light. as this was shot in what is basically a greenhouse, with a Canon Ring Light @ -1 1/3ev for additional fill light.Equipment
My trusty Canon 5DMKII, a Tokina f/2.8 100mm macro and a Canon ring light mounted on it. This was hand held, as no tripods were allowed in the conservatory.Inspiration
It is a living stained glass! One of the most interesting and beautiful butterflies in the world. The Clearwing is native to South America, and the only time one can visit this beauty in North America is at a butterfly exhibit such as this. One look and I was hooked. This one was perfectly situated for me to get perpendicular to it. The leaf in the background couldn't be anymore perfect to highlight the 'clear' wings. Smaller than a quarter, the clearwing is not easy to spot. Once you see it, however, you will be hooked. I return annually to hunt this beauty and try to one-up this shot!Editing
A little sharpening and noise reduction in PS5, along with a 10% saturation boost. Nothing much other than that. Pretty close to SOOC.In my camera bag
Canon 5DMKII, Canon 7D and occasionally a Life Pixel modified T1i. Canon 17-40 f/4L or 24-70 f2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L ISII, Canon 50mm f/1.4 Lee Filter system, Lee GND filters, SinghRay RGND Yongnou wireless triggers Wrigleys Cobalt gum.Feedback
When shooting butterflies in an exhibit, be patient. There will be kids around. There will be a lot of people around. It will get hot. A good macro lens is a must. I like 100mm, as it gives me flexibility, but I also carry a 50mm and a 180mm, just in case. Invest in a ring light, and power it down to about -1 1/3 just for additional light. Also, try to be as perpendicular to your subject as possible when shooting this close. You will achieve a better DoF without stopping down.
