Amazing capture. I am fighting back the thoughts that these little guys may be in line for slaughter. Very cool capture.

Location
This duckling photo was taken on a farm in the beautiful Southern Highlands, south of Sydney, AustraliaTime
This shot was taken middle of the day. But these gorgeous little ducklings are only 24 hours old. For their safety, they were inside a large shed warmed with heat lamps and only with filtered light. Our shoes had to be disinfected so that we didn't walk in any nasty germs.Lighting
Lighting was difficult. I didn't want to use a flash as I was afraid the flash may have hurt or at least annoyed the duckling eyes. For this reason I used ISO 1000 and aperture f/4 to try to combat the low light of the closed shed with limited filtered natural light.Equipment
My trusty Canon EOS 600D along with my Canon EF 24-105MM f/4 IS Lens are always a fantastic and reliable combination.Inspiration
I was so fortunate to be asked if I would like to see these one day old ducklings. They had not seen many humans since hatching. The experience was amazing. When I walked into the shed a mass of 4000 yellow ducklings came swarming over to me - so much so it was actually hard to get a clear shot.Editing
Being a low light situation I wasn't really sure how well the photo would be lit. The exposure was perfect. I cropped the photo just a bit to be sure the attention was on that one more inquisitive duckling that stood that bit taller that all the others. In my camera bag
I try to choose which camera and lens I think will be more appropriate for the location I am heading to and the type of photo I expect to be taking. So I usually pack either my Canon 600D or Canon 5D Mk II camera. This trip I selected my Canon 600D and teamed it with my Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS lens. I always carry a spare battery, spare memory card and cleaning cloth.Feedback
Low light photography is difficult. Don't be afraid to use a higher than usual ISO setting and lower f stop.
