I was fortunate in 2010 to be one of the few selected by the committee for an "All Access Pass" . This gave me the opportunity to shoot from "The Pit" only 8 photographers allowed (CNN and ESPN were 2 selected). The pit is below ground and I had to stand on a box but it gave great perspective that allowed me to get this capture.

Congratulations on being selected! I know how hard it is to be a part of this type of scene. I like you worked hard to get a press pass for Greeley Independence Stampede.

Well done. The perspective really brings this image to life. Don't you have any with a little motion blur? That will also be an excellent image giving the extra feel of the moment.

Seems as though you were right in there with them, Emile. It must have been terrific to get this opportunity for point of view. Great stop action by you and effort by them both.

Impressive shot!! Great capture of the expressions on both faces! One can just feel the struggle and power of both human and animal. :-)

Some time in the mid morning I think.Lighting
Ambient lightingEquipment
Canon EOS 1 Mark IV, Canon EOS 24-105 EF L len, no tripod handheld, no flash I was one of 8 photographers selected to have all access pass and as a result I was in the pit which is below ground level and gave this POV. Actually had to stand on a wooden box to get high enough to see out.Inspiration
Was trying to get great action captures of the famed Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo which is the largest and most prestigious in the USA.Editing
Perhaps small crop and usual contrast in Aperture on MacBook ProIn my camera bag
Canon EOS 20D, EOS 5D, EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon and Sigma lens (Many), tripods, 4 flashes Canon and others, Remote controller, lot of various filters, other flash accessories. For my sport action work like this a fast frame rate is necessary.Feedback
You must know the sport and know where the action is going to be. A good camera body with fast frame rate and high quality lens.
