This photo was taken in my sister’s backyard. They grow there each year, but I’d never seen one as large and as detailed as this! Photography is a hobby for me and I’m trying to learn more as I dive deeper into it. This was a shot I could not resist!Time
This is indeed one of my favorite photos because of the amount of detail it shows. It was taken in late morning when the sun wasn’t excessively bright overhead, but there was enough of it shining to brighten the flower up and bring the details to life.Lighting
I did very little post editing. I cropped the photo just a bit to enlarge the center of the flower, as I think that’s the most interesting part of it. The lighting was all natural, of course, no flash. It was the perfect time of day to get a natural light shot that would put all the beauty of the flower on display.Equipment
I honestly think I used my iPhone for this photo! If I remember right, we were wandering through my sister’s backyard viewing all the flowers and the sheer size of this one took my breath away and I snapped off a few shots with my iPhone. No special cameras or equipment for this one! I got lucky that the phone took such a lovely and detailed photo!Inspiration
My sister loves to grow anything and everything. So we were walking through her garden of flowers and veggies, and though there Dozens of this type of flower out there, this was by far the largest one with incredible detail! I couldn’t resist!Editing
I did very little post editing. I cropped it a bit to bring the center of the flower closer to the center of the frame, sharpened it just a tad & increased the detail. The colors are all the beauty of nature!!In my camera bag
I always carry my iPhone, my old Canon D60, a 24-85mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. Those are always in my bag. And of course a spare, fully charged battery. I keep two tripods in my trunk and a few extra CF cards. I also keep a few brushes and some wipes to keep lenses as spotless as possible. That’s it. I don’t have a fancy new camera, my old Canon D60 works just fine for someone like me???? As I improve over time I’m sure I’ll upgrade, but for now, my little setup works and I enjoy my photography hobby very much, and as often as I can!Feedback
Just go out and wander around. Sometimes the best shots are of some very ordinary things or places! I believe photography is more through the eye of the photographer than through the lens. Yes, you have to take a clear shot, but it’s the personal view, angle, and insight of the photographer that will make a shot from good, to great!
