I took this photo in Kyrgyzstan. We were trekking 2 days, for reaching the Alakol pass (3800m), from where I finally took this capture.Time
It was over 2 pm, when I did this shot.Lighting
To say the truth, Nothing special connected with lightning. I was just lucky, because the sun was helping me with this shot. It was in a good place during my shooting. As I had very short time to do photos, it was my only chance and I did it...Equipment
For this photo I used only my camera. At that time (as it was 2009, when I took this photo) it was Sony DSC F-828. Quite good camera (for not-professionals). I didn't have tripod, because it was too havy to take it on that altitude... So I did it only with my camera and my hands, trying to keep the camera more stable, during doing 3 shots.Inspiration
The most amazing thing for me in that place, was that Alakol lake, which is being situated on the altitude of 3500m, has over 70m depth, and was sorrounded with tops of 4000-5000m. I never saw smth. like that. As I'm from Armenia, in my country we have so high lakes, on 3300m etc, but there not so big and so deep..Editing
Of course, after doing 3 shots for making panorama, and without any tripod, I had to use Photoshop, to marge that 3 shots, for getting 1, this amazing photo. In my camera bag
Now, I mainly use only my Canon 5D Mark ii camera, with 24/105 lense, some filtres, tripod, time lapse remote-controller, and some batteries. That's it :)Feedback
The main advice, that I can give, is to try to get more hidden places and shoot there. Don't worry about the difficulties of the weather, of the conditions etc. Be very careful and wait for the best moment. With best regards, Hrach Hovhannisyan
