Location
I took this photo in the Chester (NJ) Community Garden, where I have three plots - two of flowers, and one of tomatoes.Time
It was taken about 9am, in late August.Lighting
The lighting was just the natural light at that time of day.Equipment
My camera was a Canon Powershot SX200 IS, hand-held, without the flash. I am not a professional photographer (I'm a professional watercolor artist), but a senior citizen who loves to take photographs. The camera is usually set on "AUTO".Inspiration
I had never seen a Giant Swallowtail. Fortunately, I keep the camera in my pocket and was able to take several shots before the butterfly disappeared. The New Jersey Butterfly Club said that they breed in swamps in northwest NJ and that it was beginning its migration. It liked the tithonia best of all.Editing
The photo was cropped a bit.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag, but usually carry a monopod.Feedback
Keep your camera handy, and be patient. My gardens are the only ones there with lots of flowers, so the butterflies fly around and then come back. Enjoy your gardens!
