Location
I took this photo on the chain link fence that surrounds my back yard.Time
It was around 7 am. The town I live in is small and there wasn't much going on that time of the morning.Lighting
Lots of fog that morning, which highlights all of the spider webs with beads of moisture, especially this one on our chain link fence. Fog also seems to diffuse the natural light. I love how it does that.Equipment
I used my Canon T2i digital camera on manual setting with a 55-250 mm zoom lens, placed on a tripod with a ball head attachment. No flash was used.Inspiration
I was looking at the fog through our kitchen window, and started noticing all the spider webs with beads of fog clinging to them. They look like fragile articles of delicate lace. I grabbed my camera and tripod, put on some boots, a jacket, and, still wearing my pyjamas, headed outside to take photographs before the sun burned off all the fog.Editing
I do post-processing in Lightroom. I edited this photo by changing it from colour to black and white, cropped the image to bring up the centre 'weave', and played around with the black, white, highlight, and shadow sliders until the whiteness of the strands of web stood out from the darkness of the shadows behind it.In my camera bag
I have a Canon T2i digital camera, a 55 - 250 mm zoom lens, a 50 mm lens, an 18 - 55 mm lens, and a macro lens EF 100mm 1:2.8 in my camera bag. I tend to not use the macro too much due to its weight, which makes it difficult for me to use without carrying around my tripod.Feedback
Wait for a foggy day, shoot lots of webs against darker backgrounds, then pick the one you like the best. Use post-processing software to edit your image to your liking.
