Thanks for the comments! It's my favorite photo from the Road Trip I took this summer on the canadian east coast.

Thanks for the comments. I can’t believe this photo still gets good rankings, 4 years later.

Location
This was taken in Rose Blanche Newfoundland Canada. It was my second time visiting this beautiful place. Unfortunately, the first time I went, the lighthouse was being renovated. I was very happy to find the renovation over when I went this time.Time
I got to the lighthouse at around 10 AM and visited this beautifully restored building showing a nice snapshot of how the lighthouse keeper lived in that time. This HDR was shot at around 10:40AM.Lighting
Funny thing is about this image is that it looks like the weather was very windy and stormy. It was in fact just a bit cloudy and a few droplets of rain fell. The lighting was therefore overcast and interesting.Equipment
I was travelling with my Canon 50D and wanted a wide angle for this photo, therefore, I used a Sigma 10-20 (at 10mm) on a Manfrotto 190Pro tripod.Inspiration
Walking towards the lighthouse, I really liked the movements in the cloud. After my visit, I was walking back (and looking backwards) when I saw this perspective. I took a few shots and then decided to try to fabricate an HDR out of it (since the lighting was uneven).Editing
Of course. This is a three photo HDR (±2, 0). Transferred in a black in white HDR in Photoshop. Then, in lightroom, I played with the clarity filter, contrast and exposure also and added a dark vignette. In my camera bag
It really depends where I'm going. For this road trip, I brought EVERYTHING! (Canon 50D, canon 50mm f1.8, sigma 10-20, canon 24-70 f2,8, sigma 70-200 f2,8, sigma 150-500, flashes, tripod, etc...). I now have upgraded to the Canon 7dII and I am more selective on what I bring when I go out. Birding- only my 150-500, street, only 50mm... it really depends.Feedback
I almost didn't take photos that day since the lighting wasn't optimal. Don't hesitate to capture your photos. HDR helps to bring out the details that seem boring under boring light.
