How sad to see this plane needed, but its good they have them. Such an amazing shot!!!! Is this from recent fire activity we have been hearing about in the News? Again an amazing photo deep, rich, detail really tells an ephoto story.

Behind The Lens

Location
Upper Bench Road in the South Okanagan just outside of Penticton BC Canada
Time
The time was around 3:30 p.m. pacific time
Lighting
I had to shoot at very low ISO high speed and used the proverbial Sunny 16 rule shooting at a higher F-Stop with a circular polarizer to offset how bright the mid summer sun was
Equipment
Nikon D5100 and a 55-200mm F/4-5.6 zoom lens at 180mm focal length
Inspiration
We experienced a very dry summer like everyone else and being on a major forestry flight base we see this particular bomber taking off dozens of times each day
Editing
Lightroom 5 and a drop in whites and highlights with a minor increase in the luminance and saturation sliders trending the aqua and blue spectrums
In my camera bag
A Nikon D610 now manfrotto tripod SB 710 speedlight 24-70mm 2.8g lens 35, 50 and 85mm prime lenses as well as a 55-200mm zoom and soon the 70-200mm 2.8 as well.
Feedback
My advice, is be there when the moment happens, never travel without your camera. You will never progress in this craft without shooting regularly. In fact, why are you reading this? Get your gear get off your butt and go filming.
