Shortly after blue hour ended, I had been wandering around the area for a few hours and while it is an area that sees a lot of imaging I had to try my hand at it. 10 pm was a perfect time with the crowds and vehicle trafficLighting
Tricky lighting due to all of the ambient light pollution for a long exposure but a few stops down helped drown out the excess and allowed me to safely bring up the exposure in postEquipment

I love Vancouver. Street photography excites me because all of the basic rules of composition are thrown out of the window. The best time to take the shot is always right now and the best equipment is always what is in your handEditing
I edited this in Lightroom 5 to increase the exposure, there was some subtle dodging and burning as well to the building exteriors. I exported as a TIFF file and brought it back in to Lightroom one final time to increase the noise reduction and touch up a clarity increase in some spots.In my camera bag
I travel with a Lowe Pro bad packing a Nikon D 610 and depending on what I am shooting a Nikon 14-24mm 2.8, 24-70 2.8 and a 35mm 1.4 For everything else I load my bag with those as well as a 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8, 70-200mm 2.8 all Nikon lenses. Plus a Manfrotto tripod and various speedlights and triggersFeedback
Always have your camera on you. Never be afraid to set up shop in the middle of traffic during a red light for 10 seconds. Again the best time to shot is right now and the best gear is what is in your bag at that point in time
