Dinner time at the Feeder

I have a few bird feeders in my yard which I use to practice my avian photography. Unfortunately living in a city, the majority of the birds that frequent my feeders are sparrows, a very common bird. I was looking for a way to take this common bird and make an uncommon picture. Since they are so small and quick, I rarely see pictures of them in flight so I decided to try and get that shot. I set my camera up on my tripod in my room and shot out my window. I pre-focused on an area near the feeder, set my camera on burst and used my cable release. I waited for any moment when a sparrow would fly in towards the feeder and fire off a few shots. I had a few keepers after about an hour but this was my favorite. Aside from being sharp and capturing the bird in pleasing position, what really caught my eye was the lighting. The rim light on the birds head and illuminating the wings was more than I had hoped for, plus I love the fact that the bird in the background is in shadow while the subject is lit well. I got very lucky with this shot, but I wont complain. Enjoy
