This was taken at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Southern Colorado.Time
i was there in the summer late in the day around 5pm just as the shadows began developing. I noticed this set of very small dunes that had formed and thought it would be a cool pic.Lighting
Being late in the day nature created the good lighting for this pic. there was no need for additional lighting.Equipment
I used Canon 60D for this shot, with a 70-200 L series Lens and a polarizing filter. No flash was neededInspiration
I love taking shots of the Dune field as it is one of the most amazing places in Colorado. The dunes always look different every time I am there. I had never seen anyone take pics of Mini dunes, and it looked like a great shot.Editing
the only thing I did was remove the digital noise and lightened it up a bit. I wanted people to see it as I saw it.In my camera bag
I now have a Canon 70D with an L series 70-200 lens along with 18-135 lens I used the 70-200 lens to take this shotFeedback
Look for places/objects that most people wouldn't think about shooting. In Colorado, there are many places where you can find many different places/objects to shoot that no one else would even bother to stop at. Landscapes are great to shoot but my favorite things to shoot are the unusual or different. I like to find small towns to photograph because that seems to be the place where I find the most interesting things to take pics of.
