Location
This photo was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park at Sprague lake.Time
I love going into the park early in the morning as you can get some awesome sunrise shots against the mountains. I had never been to Sprague lake and decided to go that morning. Sky's were clear and the water was like glass. I took this shot at 6am.Lighting
Only light needed was the natural light of the morning. As you can see it was the perfect amount needed.Equipment
I use a Canon 70D and with this shot I used an 18-135mm lens. I did not use a tripod.Inspiration
If you have ever been to Rocky Mountain National Park you know that around every turn there is a great shot waiting. The Lakes in the park can be an amazing location to shoot, especially when the wind is calm. This morning the lake looked like glass so I new it would be a great opportunity to shoot from several angle.Editing
Only post-processing was removing digital noise. In my opinion, the colors were already perfect so i saw no need to enhance the photo as nature already provided what was needed. In my camera bag
I have a Canon 70d along with several lenses. My walk around lens i use is normally my 18-135mm, but also have a L series 70-200, L series 100mm macro lens, 70-300mm lens and a 50mm. Plus i carry 2 different flashes.Feedback
When taking landscape pictures, be patient and always shoot what you are looking at from different angles. When at Sprague lake, i was able to shoot many different angles of the lake and was able to get some really great shots. Obviously, early morning is a great time to shoot any lake or pond as long as the wind is calm. I've been in the park many times early in the day without too many people around which helps get the shot you want. Don't be afraid to take chances when you are out shooting, landscapes can be amazing if you frame them right, and keep people out of the shot unless they will enhance the picture,EG; silhouettes can be great. When you see beauty in a shot, others will see it too. My personal preference is not to over post process the photo as many times people want to see the natural awesomeness of a picture instead of turning it into something it's not.
