it was taken around 10am under partly cloudy skies. If i recall there was a sheer canopy over these flowersLighting
Lighting was all natural, there was no need for any artificial lightsEquipment
At the time i had a canon 60D with an L series 17-200 lens, not tripod. no flashInspiration
If you have ever been to those gardens you know at every turn there are awesome shots waiting. When i saw this orchid opening up i knew it would make a great shotEditing
I only cleaned up the digital noise and slightly enhanced the color. it was naturally such a beautiful flower that i wanted people to see what i saw.In my camera bag
I now carry a Canon 70D, with 2 different flash units, a L series 17-200mm, L series 100mm, 50mm and a 18-135mmFeedback
Take your time! first enjoy the outdoors and always look around to see what would be interesting to shoot. Look at the object from different angles to see what would look the best. Of course shoot earlier in the morning or late in the day when shadows are just right. If shooting inside use the right amount of light that will enhance the photo and not wash it out. I think i spent around 2 hours at the gardens that day enjoying all the flowers. There are couple of other flowers from the garden on my page but not nearly as beautiful as the Orchid.
