The colors and composition are amazing....dreamlike. The "catch" of the fish jumping out of the water is brilliant and so is the title.

Franklin - this is truly one of the most gorgeous photos I've ever seen! I lived in Fort Walton many many years ago and have never seen anything like it! Best Wishes!

Great capture and story behind it! I've had similar luck with jumping mullet, they don't seem to cooperate much. Glad this one did and in just the right spot in the frame. Your story is very inspirational and your dedication paid off big time!

The ripples in the water add so much but subtle, like the perfect amount of garlic

This is a very beautiful sunset. Don't know where it is, but it kind of reminds me of Fiji. Thank you sir.

softer colors needed. but I know that kitsch is liked by the vast majority of people. In the end, congratulations.

Apart from the painting like masterpiece that this is the fact that their are fish that can actually fly (saw it on David Attenborough they can glide out of water) made me laugh because 'And pigs can fly' is a phrase here meaning impossible :-)

Location
This photo was taken off the end of my dock, aiming toward Pensacola Beach to the west.. Initially I was pissed the fish kept jumping in my shot, then I realized how surreal it looked. I then adjusted my ISO trying to capture another few frames at a faster shutter speed, and of course the fish stopped jumping. All things done and said I kinda like the blur in the fish showing the action in the middle of this very still shot.Time
This photo was captured on Oct 22 2013, at 6:21PMLighting
This was your typical "AFTERGLOW" photograph. As most of you know the best colors occur the 10 to 20 minutes after the sun goes down.Equipment
Nikon D800, Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 on a tripod set up on the edge of the dock with cable release. Tripod no more than two feet high. Exposure was 1/13sec at f/8.0. ISO 320 at 17mm focal length.Inspiration
I am inspired by most things in nature but the colors of twilight always compel me.Editing
I shoot in RAW and process strictly in Lightroom5. I only use exposure highlights shadow, white , black, clarity, vibrance, sharpening and noise reduction, and occasional gradient adjustments. NEVER saturation or contrast. I try to be somewhat of a purist adjusting my photos to what I saw, not what Photoshop creates. Thats just me. Maybe that reflects my lack of "layer' understanding. In my camera bag
I always try to have a camera close at hand. Nikon D850 Main lenses are Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, Nikon 24-70 f/2.8, Nikon 600 f/4, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, and Nikon 16mm fisheye.Feedback
My main advise is try to repeatedly put yourself in the right place, being very patient waiting for the right time, and be ready for that fleeting moment when they magically both come together. Have a camera loaded and ready all the time. Those magic moments happen when you least expect it. In this specific photo, I had just pulled in the driveway from a 12 hr drive. I was exhausted but the conditions were perfect so I pushed myself to get to the "right place" because the "right time" was about to happen. I am disabled and shoot majority of my photos from the front seat of my truck, my boat, or wheel chair. If I can do it, I know anyone else can.
