This photo is taken in little park in my home city Toru? in Poland, actually it is in the middle of center so I did not have to travel far.Time
It was very very foggy night, "It was the kind of night the cat would drag in" - as the lyrics say. I left home with my camera just because of the fog. It was one of the densest fogs I have seen im my city.Lighting
The light, actually the same as sound was eerie spilling all around, so I was looking for some direct source of light to take a photo against it.Equipment
I have used the tripod as the exposures that night were long. I have used my previous camera Sony A700 and kit lens, with no additional equipment.Inspiration
I just love night photos and the whole atmosphere of taking them. The fog just adds extra salt to this equation and makes it better. The light is strange, the sound the same, it is very nice to walk in the city in such weather and to search for inspiration.Editing
Any special post processing wasn't used, however today I would try to work a little but more on it. This photo was taken 4 years ago.In my camera bag
As I am fan of Light Painting in my bag there are always some light sources, sometimes some lightsaber :) sometimes just headlapm, or other. I carry usually my tripod with me and I love wide lens - Tokina 11-16mm but as I am using APS-C camera (Sony A77 right now) the angle still could be a little bit wider. I like prime lenses, sometimes also those old manual - but rather for portraits then for night shots.Feedback
well having a camera on you ALWAYS :) is the best advice, however I know it is very hard and I also do not do it, but in the moment I see something worth shooting I never postpone it for next day - I have an experience that such situation are time limited and tomorrow you will not take THAT shot. So no matter how much I am tired/lazy I take the camera and go - this time it was the same - I really wanted to go next evening to do some shooting, but I forced myself and went for some 2 hours walk where I have taken some really good shots, and next day there was not even a sign of fog :) I have tried many camera setups this night - the best shots were against the light, I also wanted to include some live being in the frame so blurred people, dog, cat would work very nice. I thing that the blurriness adds the ghostly mood to the shot so I prefer long exposures.
