Location
This photo was taken from top of the City Hall Tower in Torun Poland during the summer time.Time
It was dusk, one of few days in a year that the Tower is open for public till midnight. Normally it is closed much before dusk.Lighting
It was just the moment when city lights were turned on, and you could still see the last rays of dying sunEquipment
I have a Sony SLT-77 body with Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 lens on. Of course there was a heavy tripod - as the place was so crowded and there is so little place to stand I had to cover the camera with my body to prevent people from moving it.Inspiration
We were doing with a friend of mine a little project with timelapses from around my home city. I was not the main photographer on this project, so I could spend my time on taking some photos just for me. The weather was beautiful, it was in the middle of Summer, lots of people hanging around the city, meeting with friends, on the nice hot evening. The light was pleasent and the balance between the city lights and ambient light was perfectEditing
This is a typical HDR processing. The final picture was made of 5 differently exposured photos. There were also some additional lighting corrections done - for the roof on the first plan and some other roofs that appeared to darkIn my camera bag
Lots of lights as every Light-Painter, a tripod, for night shots always Tokina 11-16mm as wide and bright glass, but also other lenses. I like using prime lenses, also some old-school M42 manualsFeedback
I think the best advise I got on the internet was Bryan's Peterson "You keep shooting" and I am sure this will help everybody. If you are interested specifically in HDR I would recommend a good software, a good tripod, bright lenses and reading, and watching online from masters of HDR (ie Trey Ratcliff)
