Location
This photo was taken while I was on holiday in Australia. I only had a few days in Sydney, and took so many shots! I wanted to try and get a more unique picture of the Opera House, as it's such an iconic building.Time
I think this was taken early afternoon, it was so hot! It was a beautifully sunny day, with not a cloud to be seen. I has to be sure I didn't overexpose the image.Lighting
It was so bright due to the sunlight, I had to ensure the exposure was correct in camera.Equipment
This was taken on my old Nikon D80, with 18-135mm lens. No tripod, no other equipment.Inspiration
I just wanted to get a different shot of such an iconic building.Editing
I switched the image into black and white, boosted the clarity and contrast a little. All this was done in lightroom. In my camera bag
I now use a Nikon D7100 with 18-105mm lens. I also carry a Nikon 55-300mm, and a wide angle 10-20mm. I always have a remote release for long exposures, a spare battery, and plenty of spare memory cards.Feedback
When travelling or visiting well known places/buildings, always try to find a different angle so you don't come away with the same shot as everyone else. You want people to be able to recognise where you have been, but try getting low and shooting upwards, or get high up and shoot down. Alternatively, concentrate on a particular section of the building or area.
