Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in the mediterranean off the coast of Korcula, Croatia.

Time

It was that magic hour at the end of the day with the sun sinking below the horizon, and the violets of twilight beginning to appear.

Lighting

As the sun set, I tried to capture that end of day light with twilight gathering her purple cloak and shadows beginning to wrap the whole scene in splendor.

Equipment

I had just started into digital photography. My camera was a Kodak 6490.

Inspiration

With the largest clipper ship in the world, the Royal Clipper, in front of my lens, inspiration was a given.

Editing

Other than exposure, I don't remember having done any post processing.

In my camera bag

A monopod, 17-200mm Tamron lens, a small tripod, and of course my new camera, the Sony NEX 7

Feedback

Look for the unusual. Snapping a picture is easy enough to do. Try to avoid the middle of the day when the light is flat and unflattering. And, of course taking a cruise on this ship will open numerous opportunities.
